November 9-11, 2026 | Waterdown Legion Branch 551
WATERDOWN, ON — The Waterdown Museum of Hope invites the community to its November Museum
Experience, November 9–11, at the Waterdown Legion. The student-led museum, developed through
Waterdown District High School’s Genocide Studies course, brings together historical research, personal
stories and community connections.
Hear their stories - Listen to audio recordings of local residents sharing personal memories and family
histories in their own words.
A Family’s Courage Against Tyranny - Discover the Flosman family’s story of resistance, escape and
resilience, from defying Nazi rule in Czechoslovakia to risking everything to escape the Communist
regime.
Remembering Brayden McCleary (1986–2025), a Carlisle resident, Waterdown District High School
alumnus, Canadian Armed Forces veteran and Cambridge firefighter whose life was defined by service,
kindness and dedication to his community.
Student-Curated Displays – Researched and curated by our students, these exhibits explore history
through personal connections and diverse perspectives. Topics include a family member’s service in the
Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War, a great-grandfather’s experience at the Battle of Vimy
Ridge, and the history of terrorism in Peru.
