Everesting for New Hope Community Bikes
New Hope Community Bikes will be running their second annual Everesting Fundraiser Bike-a-thon on October 19. Bike riders will cycle up and down a closed section of Fifty Road with the goal of summiting the 8800m equivalent of Mount Everest. Teams of up to 6 can participate and split the climb, while others will choose to ride solo and climb the escarpment more than 80 times to reach the height of Mount Everest.
New Hope Community Bikes is a bicycle education charity that provides bicycle education to more than 1200 school children each year through Hamilton Schools, offers bike repair instruction and workspace where anyone can work on their bike. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help ongoing projects including a shipping container bike shop in the remote First Nation Community of Pikangikum, ON.
New Hope is encouraging people to come cheer on riders as they climb up the hill and spectators can park at the top of the hill off of Ridge Rd.
Used bike donations can be dropped off at our storefront location at 1249 Main St. E. During shop hours.
