The Tennessee Board of Parole has recommended a pardon for Jelly Roll.

The singer, who has spoken openly about his criminal past and what steps he has taken to overcome it, could be able to travel internationally to share his message worldwide. The board issued its nonbinding recommendation unanimously after a hearing on Tuesday that lasted about an hour and 45 minutes. Several witnesses spoke in support of Jelly Roll. This leaves the final decision of whether to pardon him up to Governor Bill Lee.
