A new country category has been added to the Grammy Awards for 2026.

The Best Traditional Country Album award will allow room for artists who remain close to the roots of country music to be recognized. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. hopes that the new category will clear up confusion about which genre an album belongs in. They are also changing the Best Country Album category to Best Contemporary Country Album.
