During a performance earlier this month at the Grand Ole Opry, Jelly Roll surprised the crowd by bringing a group of students onstage with him.
They are an elementary school children's choir from Nashville's Ruby Major Elementary School. They joined him for a performance of "I Am Not Okay." Jelly first heard about them after a deadly shooting at Antioch High School in January, which is the school he attended. The 17-year-old gunman killed one person and wounded another before they turned the gun on themselves. The kids of the Ruby Major Children's Choir decided they would record a version of "I Am Not Okay" to send to the students of Antioch High School to help inspire them. Jelly said that as soon as he heard about their act of kindness, he started looking for a way to get them to join him for a performance. "And I think this is as close to God's house as we can do it, here at the Grand Ole Opry," he said.
